Per this comment, which agrees with a caption on Pinterest. Both are just hints, rather than evidence, yet we can't host this image without referenced source. Materialscientist (talk) 00:31, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Keep The painting is clearly dated to 1666 in the lower right corner ("Año de 1666") by the artist, as such it's a public domain. My guess is that lady owns a modern copy of this painting which confuses her. We can't delete because of a Pinterest user claim alone. Brandmeister (talk) 09:12, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Delete speedy: Seems indeed to be a painting by Jorge Sánchez Hernández (* 1926) painted in old style: [1], [2]. It is signed "J Sánchez" on the right. Inscription on the bottom is clearly not from 17th century as well. Pinging Brandmeister --Achim (talk) 10:22, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • Assuming J. Sánchez is indeed that Jorge Sánchez Hernández from Facebook, then yes. However, this file doesn't contain the clarifying inscription on top shown here. Brandmeister (talk) 13:16, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
      • My concern on this is our sources on this being a contemporary image come purely from facebook, and it takes fairly limited effort for someone to set up a false claim in that manner. In the meantime, I've deleted the image from the English Wikipedia article. Tarlneustaedter (talk) 14:02, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
      • Going through that series of paintings in detail, there is a painting of the flight from Egypt, clearly in the same style and signed the same way, with a date of 1985. I agree this is looking contemporary. Tarlneustaedter (talk) 14:10, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thank you Tarlneustaedter. I just contacted my mother, who owns the rights of the paintings of Jorge Sánchez. I will show the official register in few days. He and my family will be grateful if you could keep this painting in the articles (both Spanish and English), so that his author is known, and wikipedia is an important reference to make that happen. --Elenapietrini (talk)
    • And by the way, facebook is not the only reference. You are welcome to appreciate the original painting in Puebla, México, exhibited in Las Bodegas del Molino. 01:08, 27 January 2016 (UTC)ElenaPietrini
Dear Elena, the only way we can keep the painting here is if you transfer us the rights, per Commons:OTRS. Otherwise we will need to delete it.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:58, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Delete No evidence has come forward that this is as old a painting as was originally assumed, and evidence shows it is contemporary and copyrighted. Elenapietrini's simple request that the article be kept is not viable, Wikimedia requires a free license by the copyright holder, see COM:L. Simply crediting the original painter is insufficient. As a secondary issue, since this is a contemporary painting, it is probably less interesting for the Sor Juana articles than was originally thought - it was presented as a painting made during her lifetime. A painting made centuries later has less interest for a historical article. Tarlneustaedter (talk) 15:22, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
