Answer

The problem with the two pictures above is, that the layout of the cans is also under copyright and your trival reproduction can not grant you copyright. So you need the written permission of the producer/designer of the can to upload them. --Schlurcher (talk) 13:30, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

The examples you put up are also not allowed on commons (but they are on the en-wikipedia, whre fair use is allowed), but it is a free projekt and so there is no control of upload. Fair use is not allowed on commons. --Schlurcher (talk) 12:42, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Source of Israel images

Yeah they're not verified by me, They're just a conversion of File:Oldtidens Israel & Judea.svg to English and to more conventional colors. If it makes you feel any better, the borders and names are the same (as far as I can tell) as the widely used file File:Levant 830.svg. If you think that's enough I could search for another verification, but you could help me as well.

Wikimedia Commons has a specific topic

Please don't post messages that are not relevant to Wikimedia Commons. The site does not host articles, only media files such as images, video and audio. First, edit war is not the way that the things work in Commons. The file description by uploader wasn't wrong. If you want to made any change it goes through the talk page. Pleas respect others work. Your request to change may or may not accepted, you still have to respect that. You can see the correct way to act her.

Second, try to avoid adding expression like "Israeli-occupied" etc. It Invites additional supplement like "Israeli-occupied after syrian attack" ect. Any way if you want to make change, you do it through the talk page.

Thirdly, try not to remove Hebrew (or any language) description from the files like in this case.

As far as I know and in the eyes of the international community the en:Golan Heights belong to Syria and are occupied by Israel. That's a fact! I have reviewed all of Drork's recent edits. Most were good, and SD has already picked up most of those that weren't. I think things are going forward. In general they are undoing or editing the old edits that did not conform to my suggested new rules, and leaving the ones that did. I intend to follow this fairly closely too. POV pushing

We take a mightily dim view of POV pushers on Commons. You have done nothing but POV push since you've come here. In particular, removing Israel categories from places that you don't personally recognize as Israel is not appropriate. Using the term "Israel occupied" while using the term "Kurdish controlled" is another example - let alone adding a tangential bit about Israeli control of the Golan Heights to a map about the Syrian civil war (it's not relevant, and it only will lead to fighting over nationalism).

Long story short: knock it off with the jingoism or you'll be blocked.

The area is not Israel. Israel is occupying part of Syrias land, so a map showing military control of Syria should of course also show the foreign Israeli military occupation of Syria. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 13:24, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Your claim about not adding Israel is completely untrue. Let me make this very clear: we do not remove categories from images for disputed territories, whether it is Armenia/Azerbaijan, Israel/Palestine, or whatever the case. The same goes in reverse: people may not remove Syria categories from Golan Heights either.It doesn't matter whether you agree with them or not.

I haven't missed your refusal to acknowledge this, despite many previous warnings. As such, I've blocked your account for three days. I repeat, Commons looks very dimly on nationalist POV pushing.

Setting aside whether it's neutral to say one side is "controlling" and another is "occupying", the proper course of action then is to update the template, not remove the template and thus all the other languages. And the proper course of action is to bring the issue to the talk page when changing the text, not just reverting without comment. I believe that Magog the Ogre is biased against me. He has taken the side of User:Greyshark09 despite the fact that it is Greyshark09 that is pushing his pov without discussion. There has been two discussions at Wikipedia about how to present the Israeli occupied Golan in maps showing the military situation in Syria, and the majority support to present it in white with the text "under Israeli occupation" please see these two discussions:[7][8] Despite this Greyshark09 has taken it upon himself to remove this and force his pov into commons:[9][10]

I reverted him and asked him in the edit summary "Who agreed to this?", he then reverted me without saying anything:[11]

So who is the user that should be banned from commons? The user that discusses changes and gets consensus for them and then carries out the agreed edits (me) or the user who don't get any consensus for his edits and then starts edit warring without discussion (greyshark) You have now blocked by account infidelity at commons and not done anything about greyshark, is this fair? I am a long time editor here, how can you block my account and say that its a "disruption-only account"  ? I implemented the block because you have a long history of disruption, including numerous warnings and three prior blocks. Magog the Ogre is a trusted and experienced admin, and wouldn't ask for a block on AN unless the situation was very serious and a long-term problem. I also noticed you've been advised and warned by 99of9, a bureaucrat and admin whose judgement I trust completely. Just remember that an indef block isn't permanent; if the problematic behavior you've long been involved in can be resolved, you can be unblocked. Feel free to file an unblock request, but there will have to be a discussion before any unblocking takes place. I implemented the block based on a report by Magog the Ogre of ongoing problems from this user. I'm not familiar with him, but I tend to give quite a bit of weight to a report on AN/U by an admin, and as far back as I go in this user's history, I see arguments, reverts, and overwrites concerning Israel-related images, etc, most recently with Greyshark09 and with Magog. My concern is whether or not this user is capable of constructive non-POV editing or not? As a neutral admin looking at it for the first time, it looks like this user is here to push a POV and isn't interested in working calmly and respectfully with other editors. INeverCry, the indef block you put on me is ridiculous in several different ways, let me explain why, you said that you implanted the block on me based upon the post Magog the Ogre made at AN. And 99of9 previous warning. Now lets take a closer look about what has actually happened. A long time ago, (4 years ago) there was a dispute between me an account named Kàkhvelokákh (a sockpuppet of Drork that was later blocked and has a million socks on Wikipedia). See here: [12]. This dispute between me and the sockpuppet led to an agreement that admin 99of9 layed forward. The agreement was amongst other things that we categorize Golan Heights images as Golan Heights and then have Syrian and Israeli cats inside the first Golan Heights category. I agreed to that agreement. Since then I have been carrying out that agreement at several images here at commons:[13][14] [15][16]...and you know what happened when I did that??? I was reverted by admin Magog the Ogre:[17]("rv POV pushing")[18][19][20]

The same admin who made the post at AN claiming I was "pov pushing" which you then carried out the block on me for.... now seriously... does that make any sense to you?

INeverCry, based upon all of this, also that you do not know the full extant of everything that has happened in the past, I ask that you immediately lift this block. Supreme Delicious, may I recommend you read this essay? The entire essay is literally a how-to guide on how to get unblocked, and that section applies really well to your response. And no, I should not have been the one that blocked you last time (FWIW, this is the only block I regret making on here). SD, not all your edits that Magog reverted were the most helpful way forward described by the essay. Instead of removing thisor this Israel category, you should ensure they are in Golan Heights categories first, otherwise we lose the flora/tree categorization. Magog, SD was right about the others this and this were overcatting, because it was already in Category:Flora of the Golan Heights. My2ct: As an admin who blocked you before I'd like to add something: Seeing you indefinetly blocked my first impression was that this might be inadequate. Then I saw different complaints about you and wasn't sure anymore.

Personally I hate the war in Syria and Iraq. I'm with the peaceloving people suppressed by minorities as the terror group of the IS or the Assad regime. I have a friend whose family had to flee from Syria and to bewail the death of a young son and brother. And they have the same right as others to let all the world know what they have to sustain.

So please respect commons as a place without personal points of view. Our medias just show the facts and no propaganda at all! No american, no IS, no Assad, no matter of which side! Let me add that Baschar al-Assad has had a good standing in Europe for his role in the early "Arab spring". But now he suppresses his opposition by using arms and tanks. That's ok with the terror group of the IS but not with the peaceloving majority!
